Clashes erupted after forces resorted to teargas shelling and pellet firing after scores of protesters tried to march towards the main chowk from Eidgah.
“Some protesters pelted the forces deployed in the area with stones.
The forces responded by pellet firing and teargas shelling,” said a witness.
Over ten protesters sustained pellet injuries, he said, adding that the injured were shifted to Sub-district Hospital Sopore for treatment.

AMRITSAR: An engineering student from Jammu died in a road accident in Pathankot on Sunday evening. The deceased identified as Madhav Ghai ,was studying in an engineering institute in chandigarh.On Sunday, Madhav started for Jammu from Chandigarh in his car. The car lost its control near Damtaal and rammed into a divider .
Madhav died on the spot. Local shopkeepers and commuters pulled out his body from the badly mangled car . The body has been sent for postmortem.
Tral—Ten Central Reserve Police Force personnel sustained injuries as suspected militants attacked their camp at Lariyar area of Tral in Pulwama with a grenade on Tuesday evening , police sources said.
They said that suspected militants lobbed a grenade at F-COY CRPF camp of 180th battalion in Lariyar Village of the town and fled from the spot.
Soon after the attack, additional reinforcements were rushed to the area to nab the attackers.The injured CRPF personnel have been identified as

Earlier on Monday late evening suspected militants hurled grenade in Tral town on 180th battalion main headquarters, in which two CRPF Personnel were injured.

Srinagar: Militants on Tuesday evening barged into the residence of retired justice Muzaffar Attar in south Kashmir’s Anantnag and snatched four rifles from the policemen, police said.
Police sources said that two policemen were injured in the firing who have been shifted to hospital.They said that the incident took place at Anchidora area of the town creating panic.Soon forces reached the spot and cordoned the area to nab the attackers.
Police arrested JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik from Abi Guzar.Malik was scheduled to attend a function of joint resistance leaders to commemorate the 50th death anniversary of late Moulana Yusuf Shah at Aali Masjid.A large posse of police reached Abi Guzar Tuesday afternoon from where they arrested Malik.
Earlier, Hurriyat (M) chief Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was also placed under house arrest last night.
The detentions come in the wake of a Joint Resistance Leadership programme on the 50th death anniversary of Moulana Yusuf Shah.
A spokesman of the amalgam said that the programme is being organized at Aali Masjid in Srinagar from 3pm onwards later today.
