The student protests are refusing to die down in the Valley as hundreds of students in Srinagar, Pattan, Hajin and Pulwama took to streets and staged pro-Azadi protests on Tuesday. Police intervention led to clashes at several places.Students from MP Higher secondary School and Gandhi Memorial College Srinagar boycotted their classwork and staged pro-Azadi and anti-India protests on Tuesday. Contingents of police arrived on the spot and urged students to disperse, but students continued their protest and shouted slogans against the police. In a bid to disperse the protesting students, police started firing teargas shells. The students responded by pelting stones after which clashes ensued.The students rained stones on police and police responded back by firing teargas shells. After several hours of clashes, the police finally managed to disperse the students.Protests erupted in Pattan in Barmulla district as hundreds of students of Pattan Degree College and Higher Secondary School, chanting pro-Azadi slogans, clashed with police and CRPF.The police fired teargas to disperse students who pelted stones and clashes continued for several hours.Clashes also broke out between students and government forces in Hajin after latter were enraged over the presence of army near local Higher Secondary School.
Reports said police fired tear gas on students who pelted stones.In Pulwama town, students took to streets and staged pro-freedom protests.According to eyewitnesses, the students in Pulwama displayed posters in solidarity with militant commander Zakir Musa. On the occasion, police used teargas shells to disperse the students who responded with stones.Local students alleged that police in civvies appear during protests and arrest them.
